Japan deserved a chapter because both TECMO KOEI is a Japanese company and during this visit, I’ve met the many people with big names, seeing the way they work and communicate.
2.1 – READY TO GET INVOLVED
Traveling and working to Japan is new to me. I’ve learned and gained a lot of experience (nearly as the months worth of experience) even it’s just for a week working and getting involved in TGS (Tokyo Game Show) 2010. Before arriving to Japan, I’ve watched Karate Kid by Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan, it’s an awesome movie and made me drop some tears. I need to include this in because I was a bit scared at first, then I’ve learned a lesson in the story – “Keep on trying and fighting for your life to conquer the fear in your heart.”
2.2 – HEADING TO KOEI OFFICE
I’ve met the staff members that work in Japan office and they’re really nice to me. We spent a whole day for a meeting and discussing on the TGS schedule. At the same time, I’ve been walking around the building to see the way they work.
I’ve met the creator and producer of Dynasty Warriors series, Mr. Akihiro Suzuki; and also had an interview session with the producer of Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage, Dynasty Warriors: Gundam and Samurai Warriors series, Mr. Hisashi Koinuma. Thank you for submitting the questions through KOEI facebook @ http://facebook.com/koeigames – I’ve managed to get him to answer them for you – will keep you updated with the release of the video.
2.3 – MEETING / DINNER WITH TEAM NINJA
Had a meeting with the world’s no.1 game developer, Team NINJA, learned a lot from them. They’re creative, innovative and willing to listen to get improved.
At night, we had a dinner with Team NINJA and the media. (P/S: The food is really nice, I feel so special. Hope everyone feels the same way too.) Team NINJA’s leader, Mr. Yosuke Hayashi has announced NINJA GAIDEN 3 on that night as well. The teasing art of Ryu Hayabusa is indeed very creative! I have a high expectation and respect with the new fresh Team NINJA, they’re more matured and have grown up now – hope everyone can keep supporting and protecting them because they make games with passion, tears and sweat, dare to take challenge, they’re simply the best.
2.4 – TOKYO GAME SHOW 2010
It’s my first time attending to the Tokyo Game Show 2010. TECMO KOEI booth is big and loud as usual. I’ve tried TRINITY: Souls of Zill O’ll game and it’s quite interesting. All people are hyper with the DYNASTY WARRIORS 7 announcement and I think this might affect TRINITY to get the attention. I’ve noticed Warriors: Legends of Troy graphic has been improved as well. I’ve recorded some videos with my mate, Marko during the event. It will be out soon, so you can experience the TECMO KOEI booth. On the side note, the booth babes of TECMO KOEI were hot – loving their smiles.
A lot of events were going on at the TECMO KOEI main stage – Kou Shibusawa announced his “collaboration” project with Team NINJA titled Ni-OH, the producer’s interview for TRINITY: Souls of Zill O’ll, the performance from a girl band, DREAM (they will be singing TRINITY: Souls of Zill O’ll theme song) and more.
I’ve been invited to the NIS America (Nippon-ichi) conference (NIS America titles are published by TECMO KOEI Europe) for the announcement of Disgaea 4. it’s really good with what they’ve come out with. The producer’s wearing Prinny suits, the live radio session and tweeting on twitter with the Disgaea 4 voice actors and singers for the theme song, and you got their awesome goodie bags.
Had a party with TECMO KOEI staff members, it’s nice to see the staff members from Japan, North America face-to-face, not just communicating via emails. Managed to get to understand everyone better and we had so much laughs – they all are cool people and very hard workers – I think they all deserved some rest.
2.5 – EXPERIENCING TOKYO
It’s a day of exploring Tokyo. Been to the place related to Tokugawa Ieyasu, been to Ginza, Akihabara, Tokyo, Yaesu and Shibuya to wonder around. It’s fucking awesome!
2.6 – I HAVE GROWN UP
Although I only had average 4-5 hours of sleep every day, but I have gained the most precious experience in my life. For this, I have to be very happy and say that I’ve grown up. Thanks for the opportunity and I’m very fortunate to have this experience even though the total 24 hours flight with return is a pain in the ass.
