So I attended to this Google seminar, and I’ve learned a lot from Mr. Keith Ramsdale (VP of EA) while he gave his very ambitious speech. The whole session, I was just writing notes with all the key points and everything that he said because it’s quite true and amazing. He showed us the FIFA 2011 trailer, I’m not a football fan myself but it worked by making my pants wet with what they’ve been done and what they’re going to do with it.
Well basically he said: In the old days, it’s okay for us to stay in the room and play our video games alone by not connecting to any people. But nowadays, this doesn’t work, online play has become a very important feature for the game, not just the video game, but the social network itself like Facebook and Twitter, it has become the main root for people to explore the new things that are close to their genre to discuss about the things they like and share the cool things. I think this is totally right – with the invention of Facebook and Twitter, gamers get to find another gamers in their genre, and same thing applied to everyone who has the same interest, like reading, body building, or some random play.
In the old days, parents used to restrict their children or to keep their children away for playing video games. Nowadays, the parents play games with their kids and even a 50-year-old granny enjoyed her time playing games. Some fitness clubs have also used Wii Fit as part of their fitness program. With the technology changed THAT quick these days, everything has come and gone quicker, everything processes with a lot of information and data. “So if you don’t change, you get to lose behind.” ~EA.
Talking about the use of mobile – the future isn’t actually the home consoles anymore but mobile and the various connectivity (just look at the grown of the iPhones, it’s grown about 8 times quicker than people started to use mobile in the past – in less than 3 years which is totally shocking!) And as you might have been noticed, more people have connected using mobile phone these days. If your application doesn’t work on mobile, you lose a major part of the accessibility. (This actually made me think of “maybe I have to make my website accessible on mobile as well.”) – Well, I speak my words always louder than my action (so we’ll see) – I really want to try this out!
The world is all digital nowadays, there are so many channels while people get connected and talk and you can’t avoid it (you’ll never know the outcome because it varies all the time!) – Well if you’re lucky enough by showing what you’ve got in this digital world, you get to be famous like Justin Bieber in quick (for example), even this fucking annoying kid, Fred has his own movie with John Cena now, seriously WTF!? (I’m jealous…)
