Some footage of Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z from Eurogamer Expo.
BITCHES!! Yeah, just came back from the Eurogamer Expo today. I had fun although I personally wasn’t very pleased of the location of our booth but I’m still very happy that a lot of people enjoyed playing the game (this time we’re showing Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z) with the new and returning familiar faces. It’s always nice to see you guys and share our gaming and life experience, so thank you for coming to visit us and the booth!
A lot of people were confused and they thought this is Ninja Gaiden 4, it’s actually not. Yaiba is a new (collaboration) action game that is currently under development between Keiji Inafune (creator of Megaman, Dead Rising, Onimusha and Resident Evil)’s studio, comcept and Team Ninja. This is also why you see the combination of zombies, action, ninjas and mechs – now this explains everything!
Unlike Ninja Gaiden series, Yaiba isn’t a serious game, but a game full of humor, that is because Yaiba (the name of the main character) is a very wild character. He is seeking revenge to kill Ryu Hayabusa but on his way of revenge, a mysterious substance called ‘compound 72’ has leaked, causing many of the townsmen to display curious behaviour and unnatural appetites. Here are some types of stiffs you can identify in the demo (text directly taken from our Gamescom press release).
The Infected (Normal Stiff)
They seem to be stronger, faster, (a hell of a lot) uglier and stupider than they were in life and if you have keen sense of smell you might be able to avoid them – for a minute or two.
Electric Infected (Electric Stiff)
These electricity-charged stiffs seem to be producing their own electric power. It’s actually amusing, but if these guys were contained they could actually produce free electricity for all.
Burning Infected (Fire Stiff)
Don’t approach them unless you’re cold or tired of living and want to leave life in flames. They are ever-burning, glow in the dark, hideously disfigured and smell disturbingly like BBQ.
Toxic Infected (Bile Stiff)
Those idiots already came and skilfully managed to get themselves infected WHILE WEARING THEIR SUITS. So now they are trapped in there, feeding on their own flesh and producing some sort of green toxic bile that looks extremely disgusting and highly corrosive.
The Brawler (Shredder)
The rich and famous did not escape this scourge either! Local celebrity and world famous ex-boxer and MMA fighter Vseslav Degtyarev has fallen victim to the infection and is now laying his award winning punches to everyone in range. Yes, some might judge him for that brief assault case, or for the fact his career didn’t end in the most pleasant note, but look at him now! Strong as ever! Agile as a panther! Quick as a.. quickly rotting undead thing.
The Priest (Scorcher)
On the other hand, if you look to the clergy for an answer to your prayers- look again. They are nowhere to be found. Apart from this one priest that roams the city with a scorching censer- hopefully reading everyone their posthumous last rites, but most likely wreaking vengeance on whoever he thinks is wicked and sinful; so pretty much everyone that walks past him.
The Terrible Two (Baby Bruiser)
To be honest, no one really knows what this is. It seems to be some sort of experiment gone wrong as it has two heads and is slightly over-sized. It also seems to be hungry all the time and does cry a lot when it doesn’t suck on some poor passer-by’s bone marrow. As it’s the size of a truck you’ll probably see and hear it long before it sees and hears you, but there’s nowhere to left hide, is there?
As for the feedback, we are very happy that everyone really enjoyed the game and had a good laugh. The truck that ‘went’ into the sex shop made everyone laughed so much. There is a mistake on the Russian word (the sex shop’s name) which the team will fix it. Oh, and we also received some feedback regarding the girl at the bottom right (her name is Miss Monday – you might have seen Jessica Nigri‘s cosplay at PAX – “OMG, that girl at the bottom right there, she swears a lot!”
Everyone really enjoyed the game. Some of them have managed to learn the Rocket Punch (hold Triangle button – PS3 version) so they can take down The Priest (in the demo) much quicker – most of them have missed the tip message at the bottom bit. Many have asked about the PS4 and Xbox One release for Yaiba, which we don’t know it yet.
Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z is coming Early 2014 for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
..and here is one of my favourite picture from the event. Full ninja. All the time bitches!!
Yaiba will be playable at Gamescom this week! Heading to Germany tomorrow. I’m quite happy to be able to see Keiji Inafune and Team Ninja again.
Here is the Control Sheet for the German #TKfamily to get ready for some crazy slashing on the show floor (Yaiba stand will be located at Koch Media booth).
Here are some details of Yaiba from the previous press release.
In YAIBA: NINJA GAIDEN Z, players will battle fierce zombies as YAIBA, a cyborg ninja who will do anything to get revenge and stay alive. Cleaved in two, he is brought back to life with cyber-technology. Brandishing his ninja sword and the mecha weapons in his cyborg arm, he slaughters zombies with brutal, over-the-top abandon.
Step into a stylized living comic book where stunning graphics depict a world gone mad. Hordes of undead can only be stopped by YAIBA’s willingness to use any means necessary to get the job done. Will he kill by turning his cyborg arm into a razor chainsaw for slicing up undead—or just rip off an opponent’s arms to use as zombie nunchucks? Both possibilities fill YAIBA’s heart with twisted laughter—and the desire to kill more and more zombies!
YAIBA: NINJA GAIDEN Z comes from the two teams behind the most famous ninja and zombie videogame creations as Team NINJA and legendary producer Keiji Inafune team up to create a new experience. The world of the ninja meets undead warriors, cybernetic weapons, comic books, in an entirely new game that draws from the NINJA GAIDEN franchise with a host of bold, new features including an original storyline and style of gameplay.
Always intense, never boring, YAIBA: NINJA GAIDEN Z is violent, creative, and daringly different. Sharpen your sword, fire up your cyborg arm, and prepare to GET SOME!
As for Gamescom, we have some new information coming, so stay tuned!
